About the menu

Restoran Nelayan Ah Chong offers a flavorful journey into Penang’s rich seafood heritage, nestled by the seaside at Apartment Pantai Bersih, Bagan Ajam. The menu highlights fresh seafood favorites like steamed squid with lemon, spicy fish curry, and kung po mantis prawn, all seasoned to perfection and reasonably priced. Signature dishes such as sweet and sour crab and tender lemon chicken showcase the kitchen’s skill in balancing bold, authentic flavors. Complement your meal with their homemade cane juice, ideally ordered by the jug to share. Diners often praise the crisp texture and freshness of the seafood, coupled with delightful local sides like mantou buns and kangkung belacan. The setting amplifies the experience, with stunning sunset views over Penang Island and cool seabreezes enhancing every bite. Though some note inconsistency in fish freshness, the overall menu captures the essence of Malaysian coastal cuisine and promises a satisfying dining experience for those seeking genuine, well-crafted seafood delights.

from a recent review —
Their food quality has dropped, the fish we order no longer fresh as before like a year ago. Instead it tasted like plastic and the meat is hard. Other than fish, their crab and chicken was okay to us. Their home made beverage must order in jug not by glass.
